Yabás Fair

The Yabás Fair is a delectable fusion of Samba and African cuisine, and takes place every second Sunday of the month. The first edition of 2014 will take place at Praça Paulo da Portela next Sunday,12th January 2014.


In this edition, “Roda de Samba” will be hosted by Marquinhos Oswaldo Cruz assisted by Aloisio Machado, Zé Luiz from Império, David Correa and Ivan Milanes. From 1pm onward, traditional Aunts (Tias) from the region will run the 16 food stalls at the Yabás Fair, offering patrons food that will tantalize your taste buds!


Among the tasty delicacies are Mocotó and Cassava with beef jerky, prepared by Tia Surica; fried fish with shrimp sauce and fish sauce made by Tia Nira, and Dona Neném, who is the eldest aunt, aged 87, prepares braised oxtail and potato with polenta.
