The Rio community welcomes another expansion in their transportation in the favela Morro da Providência. The new cable car is finally open and fully functioning for everyone‘s usage. It has been a project long awaited and finally opens at the end of the World Cup. It connects Morro da Providência to “Central do Brasil” train station.
This cable car is the second to Complexo do Alemão which is to aid in facilitate transportation and provide a touristic spot. The cable car will allow a person to have a 360 degree view of the entire city. Each car is known to carry 10 people maximum due to safety regulations. This can be a faster option besides utilized cars or buses which many residents have already found useful. This project has been part a larger project called “Programma Morar Carioca” which seeks to assist with sanitation and roads.
