Not many bands become genre defining, award winning, and BBC1xtra playlisted within a year, but Goldstar have managed all that in less than 12 months!
Bought together by coincidence, random collaborations and recording projects passed around between friends, they soon decided to officially join together as a band. From the beginning the ethos has been on aggressive decision making, hard work, and speed. Working tirelessly writing, recording, publicizing and dreaming, with the constant aim to create a new style of music they call ‘Stadium Dance’.
Big chorus’s, festival ready sets, real live instruments all wrapped up in a dance production is the goal, and after just 3 months of writing and recording they were ready to release their debut MixTape to the masses. Once uploaded this received thousands of plays, aswell as radio plays from BBC Introducing, Best Of British Podcast series, and all the way over to requests on Japanese radio!
June, 3 months after the first release, saw the upload Mixtape2, the second installment in this journey, and also the debut of the acclaimed live show. Full live instruments, a showcase for the incredible voice of Lee Morris, and soon bookings at Islington Academy, Jamm (supporting Alt-J) and Lodestar Festival came flooding in! This shows no sign of slowing, and since this release they have received the NMG Award for ‘Best Urban/Dance Act’ and has ‘Landslide’ playlisted on BBC 1Xtra.
Prior to forming somg of the members tasted success individually. Reaching number 8 in the dance charts in 2010, having songs featured on The Jay Leno Show in America, and touring with acts such as Pendulum, Hadouken, Mr Hudson, Jessie J & Tinie Tempah… however it seems only now they are together, working endlessly towards that shared musical vision, that the real success is about to come!
